Mike Higgins

Mike Higgins serves as the General Counsel for IDEA Public Schools, the largest public charter school network in Texas, leading the legal team that supports over 80,000 students across 143 schools since January 2023. Prior to this role, Mike was Of Counsel at Schulman, Lopez, Hoffer, & Adelstein LLP, providing legal representation to non-profit organizations and educational institutions. Mike's experience also includes roles as Education Counsel at Prenda, focusing on compliance in a complex educational environment, and attorney at The Higgins Law Firm, offering services for Louisiana's charter schools. Earlier career positions included Director of Law and Policy for the Louisiana Department of Education and various associate attorney roles handling litigation in insurance, maritime, and personal injury cases. Mike earned a Juris Doctor from Tulane University and holds degrees in Education and History/English.
