Saugato Datta has extensive work experience in various organizations. From 2011, they worked at ideas42 as the Managing Director, where they played a crucial role in conceptualizing and implementing the organization's strategy for applying behavioral economics and psychology to program, product, and policy design in international development. Saugato developed partnerships with universities, non-profits, funders, international agencies, and government agencies to build a portfolio of projects in international development. Saugato also conducted behavioral diagnosis and design for key projects, designed research instruments, and oversaw rigorous evaluations of field projects. Saugato Datta obtained a BA degree in Economics from St. Stephen's College, Delhi, which they attended from 1995 to 1998. Saugato then pursued an MA degree in Economics at the University of Cambridge from 1998 to 2000. Following that, they completed an MPhil degree in Economics at the University of Cambridge from 2000 to 2001. Saugato Datta furthered their education by obtaining a PhD in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where they studied from 2001 to 2007. Prior to their tertiary education, they attended Springdales School, although specific years were not provided for this educational experience.
