Dave Dawkins

Dave is a visual designer committed to building brands and experiences that promote a sense of belonging.

Before IDEO.org, Dave was chief creative officer at UMI, the largest independently-owned and -operated African American media and publishing company. He has also worked as an art director for a number of domestic and internationally focused non-profits.

Dave holds a BFA from the University of Houston in studio arts painting. Eventually realizing an art degree isn’t just great for asking big questions but also solving problems, he kicked off his journey into design and around the world—from building a system of scalable chicken coups in Ghana to codesigning schools in Kenya.

On any given day, you can find him exploring the Bay with his family or going for a jog while tuning into a podcast on physics, politics, or blackness.
