Michelle Lee-Schmidt

Michelle Lee-Schmidt is a seasoned design professional with extensive experience in fostering innovative and engaging products, particularly in the realms of play and education. Currently serving as Partner and Executive Managing Director at IDEO since 2013, Michelle leads the Play Lab, driving innovation through multi-disciplinary teams and projects that explore the intersection of play and emotional connection. Michelle also contributes as a Fellow in the Aspen Institute First Movers Fellowship Program, focusing on integrating corporate profitability with social value. Prior roles include Head of Customer Experience at ThredUp, Products Editor at Pregnancy Magazine, and co-founder of ShopWell. Michelle's earlier career includes significant contributions at IDEO, Stanford University, and various product management positions. Educational credentials include a Master’s in Engineering, Product Design, and a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering, both from Stanford University.
