Martin Smith

Mr. Smith joined IDEXX in August 2021 as Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer with responsibility for the company’s innovation pipeline, overseeing research and development of diagnostics and instruments as well as product licensing. Prior to joining IDEXX, Mr. Smith held several senior leadership roles at subsidiaries of Danaher, a Fortune 500 global science and technology company. Most recently, he served as Chief Technology officer for Cytiva, a product and services provider for bio-therapeutics manufacturing. Mr. Smith joined Pall Corporation, a leader in filtration, separation, and purification solutions, in 2006 and held several leadership roles prior to serving as its Chief Technology Officer from 2014-2020. Prior to joining Pall, he was Vice President of Clinical Diagnostics at Cambridge, MA start-up Intelligent MDx. From 1999-2005, Mr. Smith worked at GE Whatman and served as the Director of Technical Marketing and Vice President of Marketing & Business Development and R&D. He holds an undergraduate degree in biological studies from the University of Essex, a master’s in biotechnology from Reading University, and a Ph.D. in molecular biology from University College London.
