Sandra Tavares Varum

Sandra Tavares Varum is a Senior Scientist and Lab Head at Idorsia Pharmaceuticals Ltd since September 2019, where significant contributions include advancing lead optimization programs in endocrinology and immunology, initiating a project targeting one-carbon metabolism for T-cell-mediated autoimmunity, and collaborating on an oncology synthetic lethality program. Prior to this role, Sandra served as a Scientist and Lab Head, establishing a cell metabolism laboratory aimed at identifying new metabolic targets in oncology and autoimmune diseases. Experience also includes being a URPP Research Fellow at the University of Zurich from September 2013 to August 2019, and a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Division of Development and Stem Cell Biology at the University of Zurich, where research focused on the role of the epigenetic modifier EZH2 in neural crest development. Educational credentials include a PhD in Stem Cell Research from Universidade de Coimbra and a Licentiate degree in Biology/Biological Sciences.
