Chris is an accomplished program operations and grants manager with over seven years of experience managing programs and grants for non-governmental organizations. He has a proven track record of managing successful programs that have had a positive impact on the communities served. He is also skilled in uniting diverse agendas to a common goal, and harnessing strategic and operational drivers to deliver results. Chris’ exposure with wildlife began from a young age, as his parents would regularly take him and his siblings to the national park to view wildlife.
After pursuing a course in tourism and wildlife management, Chris studied Mandarin in Kenya and China. He then worked with a number of tourist companies specializing with Chinese tour groups. Afterwards, Chris joined WildlifeDirect as the organization’s Chinese liaison officer, leading engagements with members of the Chinese community within East Africa, particularly Kenya and Tanzania. Chris also served in a court monitoring officer role, focusing on wildlife crime related cases across Kenya.
In 2015, Chris joined the wildlife crime team and has since served in various capacities such as consumer awareness project officer, demand reduction project officer, tenBoma project officer, and EU funded project manager. Since 2020, Chris has been the project manager for INL funded programs within Kenya. The aim of the projects is to counter wildlife trafficking in Kenya through building capacity of the government led and community led law enforcement agencies in Kenya through provision of equipment, law enforcement trainings, and relationship building in the Kenya-Tanzania cross border region.
