Axel Sonnenfeld

Axel Sonnenfeld is a seasoned patent expert at the Swiss Federal Institute of Intellectual Property since June 2011, specializing in prior-art searches and assisting various industries with patent-related inquiries. Axel brings extensive experience as a freelance advisor, offering scientific counseling in plasma process-based production from November 2010 to June 2016. Previous roles include Senior Scientist and PostDoc at ETH Zurich, focusing on plasma processes and surface finishing, and R&D Engineer at Biophy Research SA in France with a focus on surface finishing and analysis. Axel Sonnenfeld began their academic journey as a Research Associate at the University of Greifswald, emphasizing atmospheric plasma processing. Axel holds a PhD in Experimental Physics from Universität Greifswald and a Master’s degree in Physics from the same institution, complemented by additional studies at Eindhoven University of Technology and DESY in Hamburg.
