Abebe Shiferaw Dakka

Abebe Shiferaw Dakka is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in agricultural development and project management. Currently serving as a Senior Scientist and Project Manager at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) since October 2025, Abebe has held several significant leadership roles, including Country Director at the International Fertilizer Development Center (IFDC) and Country Program Director at iDE. Abebe's expertise spans various organizations, including UNDP, Norwegian Church Aid, and USAID, contributing to initiatives in livelihoods, program management, and agricultural transformation. Abebe holds a PhD in Geography and Sustainable Development from the University of Bern, along with two Master's degrees in Soil Sciences from Zhejiang University and a Bachelor's degree in Arid Zone Agriculture from the University of Asmara.
