Joseph Schmelzeis

Joseph Schmelzeis is an accomplished professional currently serving as an outside director on the boards of Hitachi Construction Machinery, Central Japan Railway Company, and DENSO, while also holding the position of Vice Chairman at the International High-speed Rail Association since June 2023. As the Country Manager of IJW Whiskey Company since January 2021 and a Corporate Advisor for Quantum Accounting Inc. since April 2021, Joseph has demonstrated strong leadership skills across various sectors. Previously, Joseph co-founded and directed JPS International, Inc., where responsibilities included CFO duties and significant contributions to real estate asset management and strategic business improvements. Joseph’s background includes serving as a Senior Advisor at the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo and guest lecturing at Osaka University of Economics. Joseph holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor's degree in Economics and East Asian Studies from Yale University.
