Matthew Van Hise serves as the Chief Privacy Officer at the Illinois Attorney General's Office since October 2011, providing oversight and legal guidance on privacy and data security policies. Prior roles include Chief of the Privacy and Data Security Unit, and appointments to various task forces, including Illinois' Generative AI and Natural Language Processing Task Force, and Chairperson of the Illinois Social Security Number Protection Task Force. Matthew has contributed to multiple working groups within the National Association of Attorneys General and offers legal counsel on privacy-related matters. Additionally, Matthew participates as a guest speaker on topics related to privacy, data security, and consumer protection. Academic qualifications include a J.D. from Cooley Law School and a B.A. from Bradley University, along with certification as a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US).
