Joseph Orgel PhD is an accomplished academic and leader at the Illinois Institute of Technology, serving as the Founding Director of the Empowerment Leadership and Mentorship Program since 2005. With a dual role as Professor of Biology and Biomedical Engineering, Orgel teaches courses focused on metacognition and mentorship while also carrying significant administrative responsibilities as Vice Provost for Academic Affairs and Deputy Vice Provost of Strategic Initiatives and Student Success. Orgel has contributed to the restructuring of academic departments to enhance efficiency and service, in addition to serving as Associate Director of BioCAT, a NIH Biotechnology Research Center. Outside academia, Joseph Orgel operates the Orgel School of Movement Arts, teaching various martial arts, and is involved in consulting that includes roles in technological R&D and business development. Orgel holds a B.S. in Biochemistry and a Ph.D. in Biological (Molecular Sciences) from the University of Stirling.
