Michael P. Barry

Michael P. Barry, Ph.D., currently serves as the Associate Director for Translational Research and Senior Research Associate at the Illinois Institute of Technology since August 2021. Previously, Michael held roles at Johns Hopkins Medicine as a Collaborator since June 2023 and in various research positions from 2007 to 2018, where significant contributions were made in the development of visual prosthetics and neural interfaces. Experience includes leading program development for FDA regulatory approvals, conducting technical analyses, and presenting complex scientific concepts to senior decision-makers. Michael has also engaged in extensive clinical work, training prosthesis users and refining neurotechnology assessments. Educational background includes a Ph.D. in Biomedical/Medical Engineering, an MS in Neuroscience, and a BA in Neuroscience, all obtained from Johns Hopkins University.
