Shanna Carlson

Shanna Carlson is an experienced educational professional currently serving as the Director of Debate at Illinois State University since August 2013, where responsibilities include facilitating coaching sessions and setting developmental goals for students. Carlson has also held positions as a Graduate Teaching Assistant and Assistant Debate Coach, teaching a course on human communication. Concurrently, since July 2014, Carlson has been the Lincoln-Douglas Debate Lab Leader at the University of Texas at Dallas Comet Debate Camp, creating intensive curricula for high school students, and the Director of Debate Camp at Illinois State University Summer Speech Institute, focusing on recruitment and program leadership. Previous work experience includes an Assistant Manager role at American Eagle Outfitters and customer service positions at OfficeMax and Family Service and Guidance Center. Shanna Carlson holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology with an emphasis in Islam from Washburn University, obtained in 2010.
