Richard Lee

Richard Lee is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in R&D and operations within the biotechnology sector. Currently serving as Senior Director, R&D Global Operations at Illumina since July 2017, Richard oversees global Core R&D Lab Management and internal Core Labs, while also leading employee engagement initiatives across R&D teams. Prior roles include Director of Global Core R&D Support Services and Associate Director of Product Development at Roka Bioscience, where Richard directed cross-functional teams and participated in the development of advanced molecular point-of-care platforms. At Gen-Probe Inc, Richard was the Senior Manager of Development, focusing on the integration of new technologies into diagnostic systems. Earlier experience includes a Systems Design Engineer role at Aura Biosystems and a Leverhulme Research Fellowship at the University of Wales, Bangor. Richard holds a PhD in Biophysics and a B.Eng in Electronic Engineering from Bangor University, along with additional theological training from the Episcopal Diocese of San Diego School for Ministry.
