Luke Guthrie's work experience begins in 1998 with their role as a Firefighter in SE Thurston Fire Authority. Luke then worked as a Paramedic at Tri-Med Ambulance from 2002 to 2004. Following that, they joined Graham Fire and Rescue as a Firefighter/Paramedic from 2004 to 2018. During this time, Luke retired from the fire service and decided to pursue other opportunities. In 2018, they founded and became a Board Member of Prime Ops, a Tacoma-based staffing and scheduling firm that hires off-duty police officers for various events. In 2019, Luke co-founded Veterans Security Operations, an all-military security company. Finally, in 2020, Luke became the President and Co-Founder of Illuno, an online marketplace connecting police officers and private sector businesses for various police officer skills.

Luke Guthrie's education history consists of various institutions and fields of study. In 1999, they attended South Puget Sound Community College, where they completed prerequisites for their degree in Emergency Medicine. Following that, from 2001 to 2003, Luke attended the College of Emergency Services in Portland, Oregon, focusing on Emergency Medicine. In 2004, they enrolled in Bates Technical College, specializing in Fire Science. Later, between 2012 and 2014, Luke attended Pierce College, studying Fire Services Administration.

In addition to their formal education, Luke Guthrie also obtained several certifications. Luke achieved National Registered Paramedic (NRP) accreditation in June 2002. Later, in September 2007, they obtained the Company Officer certification from the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress. Luke then earned Leadership 1 in June 2009 and Leadership 2 in June 2010, both from the same accreditation institution. Most recently, in March 2021, they completed the Body Language for Leaders certification through LinkedIn.
