Asya Howlette

Asya Howlette is an experienced educational leader and facilitator with a diverse background in youth and family services, instructional development, and school administration. Currently serving as the Director of the Office of Youth and Families in the City of New Orleans since March 2022, Asya also holds a position as a Certified Facilitator at Illustrative Mathematics, where curriculum development and teacher coaching are key responsibilities. Previously, Asya worked with TNTP as a Mathematics and Special Education Content Specialist, focusing on individual teacher support and training. As an Assistant Principal and Director of STEM at Thurgood Marshall, Asya managed a team and implemented innovative programs while ensuring high staff retention. Asya's political experience includes running a notable campaign for Orleans Parish School Board, emphasizing grassroots support. Asya holds a Master's degree in Education from The Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Hampton University.
