LaToya Byrd, Ed.D. has a diverse work experience in the education field. LaToya began their career as a Teacher at Kingdom Christian Academy, where they assumed full teaching responsibility and fostered a positive learning environment. LaToya then served as a Student Teacher at Mundy's Mill Middle School, where they taught middle school math and implemented a student reward system. LaToya later worked as a Teacher at McNair Middle School, where they taught 7th-grade mathematics and created math learning centers for students. LaToya continued their teaching career at Flat Shoals Elementary School, teaching 4th-grade mathematics and modifying materials for inclusion students.

In 2014, LaToya transitioned to the role of District Academic Coach at Rockdale County Public Schools, where they coordinated planning, communicated student performance, and incorporated technology in instructional planning. LaToya then became a District Mathematics Coach, maintaining positive relationships with teachers and administrative teams and using technology in instructional delivery.

LaToya's expertise expanded when they joined Illustrative Mathematics in 2021. LaToya first served as an IM Certified Facilitator, supporting and training facilitators. LaToya later became the Manager of IM Certified Facilitators, providing mentoring, observation, and feedback to contracted facilitators. Currently, LaToya works as the Director of PL Implementation and Talent, where they collaborate with HR to develop processes for recruiting, hiring, and managing facilitators. LaToya also integrates organizational strategic plans into professional learning (PL) events management and communicates with stakeholders regarding the successes and challenges of PL events.
