Kat Houghton PhD has a diverse work experience in the field of autism intervention and behavioral research. Kat started their career in 2000 as an Autism Consultant at The Option Institute and Autism Treatment Center of America, where they worked directly with children with autism, coached parents, recruited professionals, and ran a research program. In 2007, they joined Inspired by Autism as an Autism Consultant, providing in-home training services to families in the US and UK, as well as conducting group training workshops in Brazil and The Netherlands. In 2009, they co-founded ilumivu, a company that develops software for behavioral research and interventions, offering mobile, web, and wearable systems. Currently, they serve as the Executive Director of Community Roots, leading a volunteer-run nonprofit in advocating for Community Rights and the Rights of Nature in the transition to renewable energy.

Kat Houghton PhD completed their education in a chronologically ordered manner. Kat first pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology at The University of Edinburgh from 1993 to 1997. Subsequently, they enrolled at Lancaster University, where they obtained their Doctor of Philosophy degree in Psychology from 2007 to 2016. Their most recent educational endeavor was obtaining a Graduate Certificate in Transformational Ecotherapy from Southwestern College (NM) between 2018 and 2020.
