In 2008, John founded their own social media consultancy, Digital Growth Strategies, LLC. John M. provided various services such as social media strategy development, community management, and online reputation management for clients including Texas Instruments and 7-Eleven.

Before starting their consultancy, John served as the Director of Social Media/Digital Practice at SPM Communications, where they provided social media strategy and content strategy development for clients like Michaels stores and Chipotle Mexican Grill.

Earlier in their career, John held positions such as Managing Director at Calise Partners, where they provided strategic marketing leadership for clients across various industries, and Director of Integrated Marketing Communications at Parago, where they played a key role in rebranding the company and restructuring its business model.

John also had roles at Temerlin McClain, where they served as the Vice President, National Account Supervisor for Subaru of America, and at The Richards Group, where they worked as an Account Supervisor and Media Planner for clients like The Home Depot and Wyndham Hotels & Resorts.

John M. Lee III completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Advertising, Marketing, and English at The University of Alabama from 1980-1984. Prior to this, they attended Greenwich High School from 1977-1980, but did not receive a degree or pursue a specific field of study.
