Michael Shroyer

Michael Shroyer is an experienced live sports editor and photographer with a diverse background in sports photography and journalism. Currently serving as Live Sports Editor and Picture Desk Editor at Getty Images since January 2021, and as Live Sports Editor and Photographer at USA TODAY Sports Images since February 2014, Michael has covered major events in NCAA Basketball, MLS, NASCAR, and NFL training camps. Previous roles include freelance photojournalist at The Roanoke Times and photographer for Getty Images, focusing on Virginia Tech football. Michael also held positions as a Project Assistant at the Center for Geospatial Information Technology and a Graduate Research Assistant at Virginia Tech Institute for Policy and Governance. Educationally, Michael obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and a Master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning, both from Virginia Tech.
