Jacob Sandum has a diverse work experience in the field of cybersecurity. Jacob started their career as a Cashier at Chipotle Mexican Grill, where they learned customer service skills and eventually expanded their roles to include food prep and digital sales.
Jacob then worked as a Student Researcher at WeevilWerx, followed by a role as a Cybersecurity Researcher at Minnetonka Research. In this position, they set up a homelab and developed a Python script to analyze network traffic and deploy malware samples.
Jacob then joined UW-Madison, Division of Information Technology (DoIT) as a Support Specialist, where they provided technical support to users and troubleshooted IT issues. Jacob later became an Intern Cybersecurity Analyst, where they collected threat intelligence and performed incident response by analyzing network logs.
At DoIT, Jacob was promoted to the position of Cybersecurity Operations Center (CSOC) Student Team Lead, where they managed student scheduling, projects, and assigned tasks in addition to their analyst responsibilities.
Currently, Jacob is working as an Application Security Engineer Intern at iManage, where they assess software products for security defects, performs source code reviews, conducts manual testing, and communicates findings to the development teams.
Outside of their professional roles, Jacob has also worked as a Bug Bounty and VDP Researcher, actively participating in bug bounty programs and researching open source software vulnerabilities.

Jacob Sandum attended Minnetonka High School from 2016 to 2020. After graduating from high school, they went on to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Jacob is expected to complete their degree in 2024.
