Julia Binder has a diverse work experience spanning various roles. Julia is currently working at IMD Business School as a Professor of Sustainable Innovation & Director of the Center for Sustainable and Inclusive Business. Prior to this, they served as the Head of Tech4Impact at EPFL, where they played a crucial role in promoting disruptive innovation and creating open platforms for sustainable impact. Julia also served as the Deputy to the Vice President for Innovation at École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) and as the Chair of the Swiss Space Center. Their earlier experience includes working as a Postdoctoral Researcher at EPFL and as a Research Assistant at Technische Universität München. Julia also co-founded FLUXBAU, a sustainable co-making space in Munich. Their work experience also includes internships at HPP Strategy and Marketing Consulting and Leo Burnett Group.
Julia Binder has a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Entrepreneurship/Entrepreneurial Studies from the Technical University of Munich, which they earned from 2013 to 2017. Prior to that, they obtained a Master of Science (MS) degree in Marketing from The University of Edinburgh in 2012. In 2011, they briefly studied Communication and Media Studies at Hawaii Pacific University. Julia's education background also includes a degree in Marketing and Communication from IMK Wiesbaden, which they completed from 2007 to 2010, earning the title of Kommunikationsfachwirt.
