Poonkodi Thirumalai

Poonkodi Thirumalai has a diverse work experience spanning over three decades. Poonkodi is currently the Country Director, APAC, Executive Education at IMD, a position they have been holding since May 2022. Prior to this, they worked at INSEAD for 15 years, where they held various roles including Director, Corporate Partnerships, and Associate Director, Business Development. Poonkodi also has experience working in the education sector, specifically at the National University of Singapore, where they were the Manager of the Europe Section in the International Relations Office. Before transitioning into the education sector, they worked in corporate sales at Indigoz Exchange Pte Ltd and held positions in sponsorship management at Thomson Financial and advertising and promotions at OCBC Group. Poonkodi started their career as an Assistant Manager of Promotions at Sentosa Development Corporation and later worked as an Account Executive at Michael de Kretser PR Consultants. Poonkodi'sexperience encompasses areas such as client engagement, business development, strategic development, sales, and international collaborations.

Poonkodi Thirumalai has a diverse education history. In 2009, they completed an Executive Education program in Negotiation Dynamics at INSEAD. In 2013, they furthered their executive education by completing the Advanced Industrial Marketing Strategy (AIMS) program at INSEAD. In 2016, they attended INSEAD again to complete the Transition to General Management (TGM) program in executive education. That same year, they obtained additional certifications in Transition to General Management and Transitioning to Trusted Advisor from INSEAD. Poonkodi also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics, Political Science, and Geography from the National University of Singapore. Poonkodi also completed their GCE A Level at Raffles Junior College. Recently, in 2020, they obtained a course certificate in Understanding and Prioritizing Data Privacy from LinkedIn Learning. Poonkodi has also participated in various executive programs, including the Strategy In the Age of Digital Disruption program at INSEAD in 2017, the Leading Digital Business Transformation program at IMD in 2020, and the High Performance Leadership Program at IMD in 2022.
