Sandrine Jauffret is a member of the Board of Directors of iMMAP France and is the acting treasurer.
Ms. Jauffret is a plant ecologist, Programme Officer at the Global Mechanism of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification since May 2018. Being team lead for Land Degradation Neutrality Transformative Projects and Programme, she coordinates the development and management of a project portfolio in more than 70 countries, worldwide, at the national/regional level to identify and develop large-scale sustainable land management and landscape restoration interventions, in partnership with key development partners.
Previously, she has led and contributed strategically and operationally to the development of drylands, working with public, private, and international institutions, in particular at the Sahara and Sahel Observatory (OSS). With the OSS, she coordinated and managed the Long-Term Ecological Monitoring Observatories Network (ROSELT/OSS) involving 4 sub-regional organizations (CEN-SAD, CILSS, IGAD, and UMA), 12 countries (+100 multidisciplinary and multicultural experts in Algeria, Cap Verde, Egypt, Ethiopia, Kenya, Libya, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, Niger, Tunisia, and Senegal) and 14 pilot-observatories.
Ms. Jauffret has a Ph.D. in desertification monitoring in Southern Tunisia and dedicated her professional career to ensuring sustainable development globally in the drylands as well as in the Mediterranean region. She is fluent in French and English and has a working knowledge of Spanish. Sandrine can also speak Arabic and German.
