Guo-Liang Yu, Ph.D., is a serial entrepreneur, business leader and scientist who co-founded Immune-Onc Therapeutics and serves as a member of our board of directors and scientific advisory board. Guo-Liang is currently the Chief Executive Officer of CBT Pharmaceuticals, a privately-held global oncology company and a venture partner at OrbiMed. Before CBT, he was the Executive Chairman of Crown Bioscience, a global, publicly-traded personalized oncology platform company that was recently acquired by JSR for $400 million. He co-founded Epitomics, an antibody biotechnology company, and served as Chairman and CEO for ten years prior to its acquisition by Abcam for $170 million. Guo-Liang is passionate about coaching entrepreneurs and has co-founded a dozen other biotech companies.
Guo-Liang holds a B.S. in Biochemistry from Fudan University in China. He received his Ph.D. from UC Berkeley, where he and Dr. Greider discovered telomerase and its mechanism in Dr. Blackburn’s laboratory. This discovery led to Drs. Blackburn and Greider being awarded the 2009 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine.
