Dawn Smilek

Chief Medical Officer, Clinical Trials Group at Immune Tolerance Network

Dawn Smilek has extensive work experience in the medical field. Dawn is currently the Chief Medical Officer and Senior Director of Clinical and Translational Medicine at Immune Tolerance Network, UCSF since November 2018. Dawn previously held the position of Chief Medical Officer and Associate Director of Clinical Development at Immune Tolerance Network from 2012. Prior to that, they worked as a Physician at Samaritan House Free Clinic from 2011 to 2014. Dawn also served as an Auxiliary Physician at Associated Emergency Physicians from 1997 to 2000. Before that, they worked as a Senior Scientist and Multiple Sclerosis Project Leader at ImmuLogic Pharmaceutical Corporation from 1992 to 1997. Dawn began their career as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Stanford University School of Medicine from 1987 to 1992 and as an Internal Medicine Resident at Brigham and Women's Hospital from 1984 to 1987.

Dawn Smilek earned a B.S., magna cum laude, in Microbiology from the University of Maryland in 1976. Dawn then pursued both a Ph.D. and an MD at the University of Pennsylvania, completing their studies in Immunology in 1984.
