Anthony Schmitz

Tony Schmitz is a seasoned finance professional with extensive experience in quantitative risk management and asset allocation. Currently serving as a Quantitative Risk Manager at CalSTRS since 2020, Tony is involved in total fund risk, liquidity, leverage management, and asset allocation strategies. Prior to this role, Tony worked as a Contract Consultant at Tideline, providing ESG data analytics for a top 4 investment bank. From 2015 to 2019, Tony held the position of Director at Guardian Investment Management, specializing in asset allocation, portfolio construction, and quantitative research. Earlier experience includes a role as Senior Analyst at NRG Energy and various analyst positions at NERA, focusing on energy and environmental practices. Tony holds both a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear & Radiological Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
