Philipp Petrenz

Philipp Petrenz has a diverse range of work experience in various companies.

- From 2020 to present, they are an Engineering Manager at Impala, leading the data platform team in building a scalable solution for Impala's products.

- From 2014 to 2020, Philipp was at Skyscanner. Philipp started as a Software Engineer, developing integrations and leading a team. Later, they transitioned into a Senior Software Engineer role, leading a team that transformed the search stack and improved cost, availability, and compliance of services. Eventually, they became an Engineering Manager, leading a team of backend engineers.

- In 2013, Philipp worked as a Web Developer at The SpaceBook Project, where they designed and implemented web-based experiments and evaluation tools.

- From 2010 to 2012, they were a Teaching Assistant at The University of Edinburgh, responsible for Python coding labs, tutoring, and designing and marking programming assignments.

- In 2007, Philipp was a Junior IT Consultant at MHP - A Porsche Company, developing an SAP-based customer management web interface for Porsche dealers.

- In 2005, they had a student internship at Daimler AG.

- In 2003, they had a student internship at Behr, where they worked in their IT department handling SAP user management and computer network administration.

Philipp Petrenz pursued their education with a strong focus on the field of informatics. Philipp first attended Coventry University from 2005 to 2006, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Computing. Later, from 2002 to 2007, they attended HTWG Hochschule Konstanz – Technik, Wirtschaft und Gestaltung, where they earned a Diplom degree in Information Systems. In 2008, Philipp Petrenz enrolled at The University of Edinburgh for a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Artificial Intelligence, which they completed in 2009. Their academic journey continued at the same university, where they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Informatics from 2010 to 2014.
