Bruce Smith has a diverse work experience in project controls, risk management, cost estimating, and quantity surveying. Bruce is currently serving as the Vice President of Project Controls and Risk Management at Imperative Global since September 2023. Prior to that, Bruce worked at Zachry Group as the Cost & Estimating Manager for the Golden Pass LNG project from October 2019 to September 2023. Bruce also held the role of Cost & Estimating Country Lead at Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) AG from April 2016 to October 2019. Bruce has experience in project controls management at BG Group, where they worked as the QCLNG Midstream and Brownfield Operations Project Controls Manager from November 2015 to April 2016, and as the QCLNG Project Controls Manager for Gathering, Trunklines & Well Site Facilities from January 2010 to November 2015. Additionally, they worked as a Project Controls Manager at KBR, Inc. for the South Regional Pipeline Alliance from September 2008 to January 2010. Bruce's earlier roles include working as the Cost & Commercial Lead at Arcadis for the Heathrow Terminal 5 & Landside Infrastructure project from January 2005 to August 2008, and as an Estimator/Quantity Surveyor at Gordon Miller Construction from November 2003 to December 2004. Bruce began their career as a Quantity Surveyor at Pulana Baxter and Associates from January 2001 to October 2003.
Bruce Smith obtained their BTech QS degree in Quantity Surveying from Cape Peninsula University of Technology between 2000 and 2003. In 2009, they attended UNSW and studied Petroleum Economics. In 2019, they received a Certificate in Contract Law from Harvard University.
