Global Head NBS Technical at Imperative Global

Roman de Rafael, PhD, has a diverse work experience in the field of climate change and carbon markets. Roman currently serves as the Global Head of NBS technical at Imperative Global since July 2023. Prior to this, Roman was the Head of Project Development at EcoAct from April 2021 to June 2023, and also worked as a Research Manager in climate policy and carbon markets from October 2019 to March 2021 at the same company. Roman has also worked as a senior consultant on climate change at Freelance from June 2017 to October 2019. Roman has an academic background and served as a research assistant (PhD student) at Université Paris-Est from September 2014 to June 2017. Roman has held various positions related to climate change and carbon markets, including roles as a climate change consultant at TEC Conseil from May 2012 to May 2014, a carbon advisor at PT. Carbon Partners Asiatica from June 2011 to May 2012, and an intern in the CDM-JI origination team at Orbeo from March 2011 to September 2011. Additionally, Roman gained valuable experience as an intern in the Division of Technology Industry and Economics at the United Nations Environment Programme from January 2010 to July 2010.

Roman de Rafael, PhD has a diverse education history. Roman earned a Double-Licence in Science-politique et Histoire from the University of Paris I: Panthéon-Sorbonne in 2008. Roman then pursued a Diplôme de Sciences po Lille in International relations and Sustainable development policies from Sciences Po Lille, from 2008 to 2010. In 2010-2011, Roman completed their Master's degree in Energy, Finance, and Carbon from Université Paris Dauphine - PSL. Roman went on to obtain a Doctorat in Économie politique from Université Paris-Est, which they are expected to complete in 2023.
