Laila Kasuri is a President's Research Scholar at Imperial College London, conducting doctoral research on pluralism and Indigenous participation in global water governance processes while also tutoring MSc programs related to participatory governance. As a Principal Independent Consultant, Laila has provided rights-based and nature-based assessments for water security in regions including the Lake Chad Basin and Burkina Faso. Previously, Laila served as a Senior Policy Advisor at the Assembly of First Nations, leading sustainable development initiatives and advocating on international platforms concerning First Nations' rights. Other roles include Co-founder Policy Advisor at a stealth water startup and International Water Officer at the Global Green Growth Institute, where Laila designed innovative water and sanitation projects. Laila's academic background includes a Bachelor's degree from Harvard University and a Master's degree from the University of California, Davis, with ongoing doctoral studies at Imperial College London.
