Anthony Richards has a diverse work experience in the field of archives and historical consultancy. Anthony spent a significant portion of their career at the Imperial War Museums, where they held multiple roles including Head of Documents and Sound, Archivist, and Assistant Archivist. During their time there, they gained expertise in managing documents and sound recordings related to military history. Additionally, they worked as a Data Recorder at the Wellcome Trust and as a Data Inputter at Sotheby's. Since 2013, Anthony has been working as a freelance author and historical consultant. Anthony has published several books on military and social history, with a focus on firsthand testimony. Anthony'sworks include bestsellers such as 'D-Day and Normandy: A Visual History' and 'In Their Own Words: Untold Stories of the First World War'. Besides writing, Anthony has also provided historical advice to media production companies for projects like the BAFTA-nominated docudrama 'Great War: The People's Story' and 'Emmerdale 1918'.
Anthony Richards attended St Thomas Aquinas RC School in Kings Norton, Birmingham from 1985 to 1992. Anthony did not pursue a specific degree or field of study during this time. Following that, from 1992 to 1995, they attended Queen Mary University of London, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Modern History. Lastly, from 1998 to 2000, they studied at UCL and earned a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Archives and Records Management.
