Cecilia Petrus

Cecilia Petrus is the current Communications Director at Impetus Digital. Prior to their current position, they worked as an Academic Editor (Medicine) at Cactus Communications from November 2013 to February 2018. There, they were responsible for editing academic manuscripts, abstracts, posters, slide decks, and book chapters in all fields of medicine/life sciences. Cecilia also proofread and reviewed previously edited documents from December 2014 onward.

Before working at Cactus Communications, Cecilia was a freelance medical writer and editor at Upwork from September 2013 to December 2014. There, they were responsible for proofreading and editing academic manuscripts and grants, as well as writing and editing medical articles and blog posts.

Cecilia obtained their MSc from The University of British Columbia, where they also worked as a research assistant in the Skin Cancer Biology Lab from September 2011 to October 2013. As a research assistant, they focused on the molecular biology behind melanoma development, progression, and metastasis, and on the identification of novel tissue biomarkers. Cecilia was also responsible for performing extensive literature reviews and data analyses as part of manuscript, grant, and thesis writing. In addition, Cecilia gained substantial hands-on-experience in cell culture methods, various molecular biology techniques, and in vitro functional assays during their time as a research assistant.

Cecilia Petrus has a Master of Science in Experimental Medicine from The University of British Columbia and a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science from the University of the Sunshine Coast.
