Mark McDonald

Mark McDonald has over 35 years of work experience in various engineering roles. Mark is currently working as the Senior Director of Applications Engineering at Impinj since October 2021. Prior to this, they spent 20 years at Alien Technology, starting as the Director of Display Electronics and progressing to become the Vice President of Engineering and Solutions. At Alien Technology, they were responsible for overseeing Alien Application Engineering, Reader hardware, and system development. Before joining Alien Technology, Mark worked as the Applications Engineering Manager at Candescent Technologies and as the Regional Applications Manager at Sharp, where they managed technical issues for strategic OEM customers and led a team of Field Technical Managers. Mark also has experience as a Night Instructor at the ECPI Technical Institute, where they taught basic electronics and computer repair. Mark began their career at IBM, where they served as a Staff Development Engineer and Senior Associate Development Engineer, leading product development teams and specializing in electrical design for industrial computer products. Mark also worked as an Equipment Engineer at Motorola.

Mark McDonald completed their Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from the University of South Florida from 1983 to 1986.
