Simulia Application Engineer at Inceptra

Andrea Isfeld has extensive work experience in various roles within the engineering field. Andrea is currently working as a Simulia Application Engineer at Inceptra since August 2021. Prior to this, they worked as a Research Associate at the University of Newcastle starting from March 2019.

Their previous experience includes working as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Calgary from February 2016 to March 2019, where they developed finite element models and test programs related to concrete block masonry walls. Andrea also provided assistance to undergraduate and graduate students in finite element modelling and laboratory components of research projects.

Andrea also held the position of Sessional Instructor at the University of Calgary from January 2017 to May 2017. In this role, they were the lead instructor for a course on Introduction to Structural Masonry. Additionally, they worked as a Research and Teaching Assistant at the University of Calgary from September 2009 to February 2016, where they focused on studying the failure of stone masonry walls and investigating intervention techniques for heritage masonry structures.

Prior to their work at the University of Calgary, Andrea worked as an EIT (Engineer in Training) at PMInc. from January 2014 to May 2014, where they performed finite element modelling of steel transmission towers. Andrea also gained industry experience as an Internship Student at Bantrel from June 2007 to August 2008, where they were involved in design work and technical administrative tasks.

Andrea's early work experience includes a summer position as a Summer Student at Birco Environmental Ltd. in 2004.

Andrea Isfeld pursued their education in the field of Civil Engineering. Andrea obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Civil Engineering from the University of Calgary, completing their undergraduate studies between 2004 and 2009. Building upon their foundation in the field, they went on to earn a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Civil Engineering from the same institution, graduating in 2016.
