Tanis Sugden

Tanis Sugden has extensive experience in various leadership roles within the healthcare industry. Tanis started their career at AIDS Project Los Angeles in 1991 as a Manager. Tanis then worked as a Program Administrator at the Los Angeles Free Clinic's PARTNERS Adult Day Health Center in 1993.

Sugden joined Prudential Financial in 1994 and served as a Disability Consultant, Team Leader for multifunctional HMO teams, and Manager of Claims. During their time at Prudential, they developed and implemented training programs, reduced claim inventories, and negotiated national service agreements.

In 1999, Sugden joined Aetna as a Regional Quality Manager, responsible for developing strategic plans and monitoring internal controls across multiple sites. Tanis later became the Director of Customer Operations, managing various operational functions and delivering on an annual budget exceeding $10 million.

In 2014, Sugden returned to Prudential Financial as the Director of Behavioral Health Clinical Services, where they led a team of psychiatric nurses and conducted detailed analysis on customer needs and claims trends.

From 2015 to 2017, Sugden worked at Pinnacle Claims Management as the Director of Exchange Operations. In this role, they directed and oversaw activities supporting small business offerings for Covered CA.

Since 2017, Sugden has been with Independent Living Systems, LLC. Tanis served as the Director, and later Senior Director, of Care Management. In these roles, they were responsible for developing and implementing care management programs, overseeing clinical and non-clinical teams, and expanding services across multiple counties in California.

Overall, Sugden has demonstrated extensive experience in care management, operations management, and team leadership throughout their career in the healthcare industry.

Tanis Sugden obtained a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from The University of British Columbia from 1989 to 1991. Prior to that, Tanis also earned a Bachelor of Education in Special Education from The University of British Columbia from 1983 to 1987. In addition, Tanis obtained a certification in Instructional Design: Adult Learners from LinkedIn in 2021.
