Karen Lincoln Michel is the current President & CEO at Indian Country Today. Karen has previously worked as the Publisher and Executive Editor at Madison Magazine, and as a digital journalist for "A Digital Native American" and the Wisconsin Center for Investigative Journalism.
Karen has always been passionate about writing and journalism, and they have used their platform to give a voice to those who are often unheard. In January 2014, they created a blog to write about the future of journalism as it relates to communities of color. Through their work with the Native American Journalists Association, they have helped launch a pilot program to give Native American college students a one-year experience in multimedia journalism and access to mentoring.
Karen is dedicated to their work and fighting for justice. Karen continues to search for ideas, solutions and collaborations that allow people from diverse communities to be seen and heard in new ways.
Karen Lincoln Michel has a Master's degree in Journalism from Marquette University and a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Technology/graphic arts management from the University of Wisconsin-Stout.
