Gouri Gargate

Gouri Gargate is a seasoned academic and professional specializing in intellectual property law and management, currently serving as a Faculty member at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur since May 2018. Expertise includes teaching subjects such as IP management, technology transfer, and patent law, alongside research in IP audit, valuation, and policy. Previous roles include Research Scientist at the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, where significant contributions involved drafting MoUs and establishing a national project's coordination committee, and TIFAC Fellow also at IIT Bombay, focusing on drafting institutional IP policies. Gouri also served as the Head of the Department of Microbiology at the University of Mumbai, working to develop the Microbiology program. Academic qualifications include a PhD in IP management from IIT Bombay and an LLM in IPR from the University of Mumbai, complemented by additional degrees in industrial microbiology and legal studies.
