Evan Backstrom

Evan Backstrom is a seasoned design professional with extensive experience in creative direction and brand management. Currently serving as Membership Director for AIGA Indianapolis since January 2024 and as Creative Specialist for the Indiana Donor Network since February 2022, Evan also owns The Rugged Press, a company focused on design and printing using a restored 1909 letterpress. Previous roles include Brand & Design Manager at The Garrett Co., where responsibilities encompassed developing brand materials and managing social media, and Designer/Page Editor II at Gannett | USA TODAY NETWORK, leading creative presentations for multiple publications. Evan's background also includes freelance design work for Iowa State University and significant contributions to the Kurt Vonnegut Memorial Library. Evan holds a BS in Journalism Graphics from Ball State University.
