Jeff Matsuoka has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Jeff started their career as a Front Desk Manager at the Denver Marriott Southeast in 1988 and then moved on to become a Front Desk Manager at the Bloomington Marriott in Minneapolis. From there, they transitioned to the Fairfield Inn by Marriott in Indianapolis, where they held the positions of Manager and General Manager.
In 1996, Matsuoka joined the IMAX Theater in Indianapolis as the Director of Operations before eventually becoming the Theater Director. Jeff continued their career in the museum field, working at the Indiana State Museums and Historic Sites as the Vice President of Operations and Marketing.
Matsuoka moved on to the Indiana State Museum, where they held the position of Director of Operations before being promoted to Vice President of Operations and Marketing. Jeff then joined the Indiana Historical Society as the Vice President of Business and Operations and later became the Interim Vice President of Exhibits, Education, and Community Engagement.
Overall, Matsuoka's work experience demonstrates their expertise in operations, management, and marketing across the hospitality and museum industries.
Jeff Matsuoka obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Restaurant, Hotel and Institutional Management from Purdue University in the years 1983 to 1987. Jeff then pursued a Master of Science in Management from Indiana Wesleyan University from 1997 to 1999.
Indiana Historical Society
Since 1830, the Indiana Historical Society has been Indiana’s Storyteller, connecting people to the past by collecting, preserving, interpreting and sharing the state’s history. A private, nonprofit membership organization, IHS maintains the nation’s premier research library and archives on the history of Indiana and the Old Northwest and presents a unique set of visitor exhibitions called the Indiana Experience. IHS also provides support and assistance to local museums and historical groups, publishes books and periodicals; sponsors teacher workshops; produces and hosts art exhibitions, museum theater and outside performance groups; and provides youth, adult and family programs. IHS is a Smithsonian Affiliate and a member of the International Coalition of Sites of Conscience.
