Payton Whaley

Payton Whaley is a seasoned digital media professional with experience in various roles across multiple organizations. Currently serving as a Digital Producer at WTIU-TV (PBS) since February 2018, Payton has significantly contributed to expanding the station's digital footprint and produces, hosts, edits, and writes the web series Flyover Culture. Previous roles include Multimedia Producer at WSMV, where responsibilities included managing breaking news, and News Producer/Anchor at WVT-fm Public Radio, where Payton prepared broadcasts for a large audience. Additional experience encompasses freelance writing for Arcade Sushi, editorial roles at Collegiate Times, and leadership positions within the Virginia Tech Union. Payton holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication, specializing in Multimedia Journalism, from Virginia Tech.
