Senior Imaging Scientist at Indica Labs

Ines P. Nearchou, Ph.D. has a wealth of experience in the medical and imaging sciences. In 2021, they began working as a Senior Imaging Scientist and Imaging Scientist at Indica Labs. Ines P. also started working as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the National Defense Medical College, where they developed deep learning classifiers using HALO image analysis software, provided technical leadership and mentorship, and collaborated with pathologists, surgeons, biologists, and computer scientists to develop digital pathology solutions. In 2020, they worked as an Image Analyst at Indica Labs, where they performed end-to-end histo-pathology image analysis studies for pharmaceutical and biotech companies. From 2016-2018, they completed a Ph.D. in Medicine at the University of St Andrews, where they also served as a Tutor and Demonstrator. During their Ph.D., they optimised and performed multiplex immunofluorescence on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue slides, applied shallow and deep learning image analysis algorithms, and mentored and trained five undergraduate students. In 2018, they also worked as a Research Fellow at the National Defense Medical College, where they assessed haematoxylin and eosin stained slides for the quantification of various prognostic features. In 2015, they worked as a Research Intern at Swansea University, where they investigated the metabolomic and immune profiles of ovarian cancer cell lines. Ines P. also completed a B.Sc. (Hons) in Medical Genetics, where they studied the effect of androgen levels on the Glucocorticoid Receptor signalling pathway in Fertile and Polycystic Ovary Syndrome endometrium. Additionally, they worked as a Laboratory Assistant at Limassol General Hospital, where they prepared, stained and evaluated slides of human blood, vaginal, sputum and wound samples, performed biochemical and microscopic routine tests on human urine samples, and followed assay protocols for the detection of Clostridium Difficile Toxins A and B and H.

Ines P. Nearchou, Ph.D. completed a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Medicine at the University of St Andrews from 2016 to 2020. Prior to that, they obtained a BSc (Hons) Medical Genetics in Medicine from Swansea University from 2013 to 2016.
