Helena Moniz is an accomplished academic and professional in the fields of linguistics and machine translation, currently serving as Chair of the Ethics Committee at the Center for Responsible AI and President of both the International Association for Machine Translation and the European Association for Machine Translation. Helena Moniz holds the position of Assistant Professor at the University of Lisbon's School of Arts and Humanities, focusing on courses related to Computer Assisted Translation, Automatic Translation, Post-editing, and Computational Linguistics. With extensive research experience at INESC-ID and the Centro de Linguística da Universidade de Lisboa since 2001, Helena Moniz has contributed to translation quality workflows and innovation at Unbabel and has participated in various academic projects and exchanges across prestigious institutions. Helena Moniz earned a Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics and a Master of Arts in Linguistics from the University of Lisbon.

Instituto de Engenharia de Sistemas e Computadores, Investigação e Desenvolvimento em Lisboa (INESC-ID) is a R&D institute dedicated to advanced research and development in the fields of Information Technologies, Electronics, Communications, and Energy. INESC-ID is a non-profit institution, privately owned by IST and INESC, officially declared of public interest. It was created in 2000, as a result of a reorganization of its parent institution.
