Darlene van Hissenhoven has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Darlene began their career in 1992 as an LT Nurse Corps for the US Navy, serving until 1996. From 1996 to 2000, they worked as a Psychiatric Triage RN and Nurse Educator at Winter Park Memorial Hospital. In 2004, van Hissenhoven co-founded van Hissenhoven, Inc Language Services. Darlene joined Infant Swimming Resource in 2005 as a Certified Instructor and Registration Evaluation Team member. Lastly, from 2015 to 2017, they served as a Safe Start Instructor at the YMCA of Central Florida.

Darlene van Hissenhoven pursued their education at George Mason University from 1989 to 1992. During this period, they completed a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) with a specialization in Registered Nursing/Registered Nurse. In 2021, they attended Duqesne University, where they studied to become a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). Unfortunately, the start year for their studies at Duqesne University was not provided.
