Dan Floyd began their career in 1991 as a Senior Programmer/Analyst for Technical Commodities Analysis, where they wrote and maintained software to characterize market trends in satellite data stream. In 1992, they joined Information Access Technology, where they held multiple roles, including Director of Engineering Services from 2001 to 2002. In this role, they coordinated with and advised clients analyzing business needs, creating specifications for effective product development and implementation. Dan Floyd joined InfoTrax Systems in 2002, where they served as a Sr. Software Engineer. In this role, they provided business solutions to direct marketing companies as part of a technical team, programmed and supported a telephony system, and documented system functions by writing Programmer references and Customer Service guides.

Dan Floyd attended Snow College from 1981 to 1983, where they obtained an AASEE in Electronics Engineering. Dan then attended the University of Utah from 1983 to 1991, where they earned a BSCS in Computer Science.
