Michael Smeyers

Michael Smeyers currently serves as the Head of ICT Demand at Infrabel since November 2016. Previously, Michael held various leadership positions at Newtec from March 2014 to 2016, including Managing Director of Newtec Communications GmbH in Berlin and Vice President of Engineering, where responsibilities included overseeing the design and development of satellite communication technologies and managing a large engineering team across multiple locations. Michael's earlier experience at Alcatel-Lucent spanned several roles from 2005 to 2014, including Head of Business Management Office, Program Director based in Japan, and Director of Network Solutions and Engineering Services. Michael began work at Alcatel in 1997, with roles ranging from Product Management Coordinator to Software Design Engineer. Educational qualifications include an Entrepreneurial MBA from Flanders Business School and a Master’s Degree in Electrical, Electronics, and Communications Engineering from Vrije Universiteit Brussel, among other advanced management programs.
