LaShawndra Thornton, MPH, MSW has a diverse work experience spanning various positions and organizations.

In 2009, LaShawndra worked as a Fundraising & Development Analyst at the Global Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS, Malaria, and TB. LaShawndra then transitioned to the NYC Department of Youth and Community and Development in 2009, where they served as a Program Manager.

In 2018, LaShawndra became the Chief Operating Officer at The Bowen Center for the Study of the Family. LaShawndra managed a team and oversaw multiple programs and committees, focused on building financial and operations infrastructure to align assets and programming with organizational strategy.

Most recently, LaShawndra joined Ingenuity Prep in 2019 as the Chief Talent Officer.

LaShawndra Thornton, MPH.MSW, completed their education at two institutions. From 2007 to 2010, they attended Columbia University, where they obtained a Masters of Public Health and a Masters of Social Work. Their field of study during this time was Health Promotion and Social Enterprise Management. Prior to their time at Columbia, they attended the University of Michigan from 2003 to 2007 and earned a B.A in Psychology.
