Gene Stavrou

Gene Stavrou has extensive work experience in compliance and legal roles. Gene is currently working as a Compliance Director at Ingredion Incorporated since 2018. Prior to that, they worked at Mondelēz International from 2006 to 2017, where they held various positions including Associate Director of Policy, Training, and Technology, as well as Associate Director of Compliance Programs. During their tenure at Mondelēz International, they led compliance, legal training programs, and promoted global policies across all functions. Gene also played a key role in automating and operationalizing information governance and compliance programs for the company.

Before joining Mondelēz International, Gene worked at Altria as a Records Management Program Manager from 2002 to 2005. Gene also had experience working as a Product Manager at Policy Administration Solutions in 2001, and as a Senior Consultant at Bond Technologies from 2000 to 2001. Additionally, they served as a Board Member at Keep Chicago Beautiful from 2007 to 2013.

Gene's earlier career includes roles as an Internet Strategist at Semaphore, Inc. from 1999 to 2000, and as a Lead Internet Developer at Nathan & Lewis Securities, Inc. from 1998 to 1999. In both positions, they played a significant role in the development and implementation of internet-based projects and platforms.

Gene Stavrou holds a BBA degree in Marketing from Baruch College, which they obtained between 1984 and 1989. Gene also has an MSIS degree in IS/Project Management from Stevens Institute of Technology, which they received between 2004 and 2008. Additionally, they have obtained several certifications, including the Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) from the IAPP - International Association of Privacy Professionals in 2020, the Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional from the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics (SCCE) in 2018, and the Certified Information Privacy Professional from the IAPP - International Association of Privacy Professionals in 2017.
