Luis Kabongo has been working in the medical imaging field since 2004. Luis started as a PhD student at Image Guided Therapy and Laboratoire Bordelais de Recherche en Informatique (LaBRI). In 2007, they took a temporary teaching and research position at ENSEIRB-MATMECA. In 2008, they became a Senior Researcher at Vicomtech and a Researcher at Biodonostia. In their role at Vicomtech, they led technology transfer projects and developed desktop and online applications for medical images. Luis also taught students and published scientific papers. In 2016, they became the Medical Working Group Co-Chair at Web3D Consortium, where they participated in X3D standardization. In 2018, Luis took on two roles as a Medical Imaging Specialist at Carestream Dental and CEREBRIS. Currently, they are a Senior Research Engineer (Medical Imaging Software) at inHEART.
Luis Kabongo received their Baccalaur\u00e9at from the Lyc\u00e9e Fran\u00e7ais de Madrid from 1987 to 1996. Luis then attended the Universit\u00e9 de Bordeaux from 1998 to 2000, where they obtained an IUT in Computer Science. Luis continued their studies at the same university from 2000 to 2002, receiving a Ma\u00eetrise in Computer Science. Luis went on to obtain a DESS in Cognitive Science Applied to Computer Science in 2002-2003, and a PhD in Computer Science and Medical Imaging in 2004-2007. In 2013, they completed a short course in Grid Computing at the Universidad de Le\u00f3n. Luis also holds a certification in Introduction to Parallel Programming from Udacity.
